Rhema, is an Ancient-Greek word literally meaning "Spoken-word". It was chosen as the name for this device, as the driven-purpose behind the Rhema-team is to make spoken-words understood by all hearing-impaired people.
In 2015 it was launched at the CSI Hr. Sec. School for the Deaf, Santhome, Chennai, India. The CSI Hr. Sec. School for the hearing impaired is a 150-year-old Institution established by Christian Missionaries working in India.
The Headmaster, Mr. Albert James, receiver of several awards for his services to the disabled, was enthusiastically supportive of our involvement in a speech to tactile system for his disabled children.
The current project commenced in 2015 at the school and came to successful completion of the objective, after several trials, design changes, bugs removal, and issues normally faced during a development process.
A Research paper was published based on the results in 2018 which may be obtained from the link
Paper published by the Stanford University in 2021 finds merit in our invention.
It has been established that 'voice' communication with speech to tactile is not only possible but also easily adaptable to persons with the need. It will not require any additional skill sets like learning sign languages for people to communicate with the disabled.
People from all walks of life, including teachers and everyone in the community will be able to share their thoughts at any level of knowledge, language, and location. There are immense possibilities
to develop, to include many areas of normal living and provide an opportunity for near-normal living without feeling isolated and separated
According to experts, Rhema will radically revolutionize the way the hearing-impaired will communicate to an individual over the years.
